Over the past few weeks you might’ve heard about or seen Dave Chapelle‘s fight to be properly paid for his intellectual property/work. In a recent video, he shares that he made a bad decision and signed a contract that gave up the rights to his content. It was at that point that he decided to ask his audience to stop viewing his work on the platform given the situation that they would be making a lot of money off of his work without paying him fairly. He acknowledged his mistake and hoped to be “made whole” by coming to his true boss… US!

Well, the follow up is that a few weeks later, they did just that; they paid him and he came back to share how things turned out. Here are a few of the career and life lessons that I learned from what he had to say.
