Blood, Sweat and Mending Broken Bones

In the past, I often struggled with finding the right mix for showing up in my true femininity in a way that is authentic to my transformational leadership at work.

It takes time to figure out what works and what doesn’t. It started for me by courageously blending my “independent dependence” whenever I showed up in my relationships. This meant failing up, managing up and speaking up.

This “blend” takes shape in unexpected ways. For example, for those working remotely, figuring out the balance and routines for food, Zoom calls, client deliverables and stable WIFI can be tricky. In addition, setting boundaries for when to start and end work can become blurred. For me, this looks like planning a day trip of white water rafting for the family since work has been hectic and no real “time off” to decompress and enjoy each other has taken place. Well, you know what they say about “the best laid plans”…as the saying goes. I ended up falling as I exited the bus to begin our adventure and broke my ankle. Since then, I have had several moments of clarity —especially when the pain was most disrespectful.

  1. Shift your perspective on asking for help.
  2. Success lies in the celebration of small wins.
  3. Nurturers require nurturing.
  4. Build a bridge to support your highest aspirations. Crossing this bridge is essential to your success.
  5. Learn to separate success from achievement.
  6. Trust the results, not your feelings.
