Career Coach or Career Strategist…Which one would you choose?
In today’s world, those looking to position their best career “face” are doing their creative, intellectual and professional best to rise to the top of the list of job applicants. Similar to those looking for a home that may use a realtor, or those looking to invest in the stock market, there are those DIY-aficionados but then there are people that would consider hiring help in the form of either a career coach or a career strategist. Let’s start at the beginning by defining what a career coach and a career strategist.
The difference between a career coach and a career strategist:
Usually, a career coach is someone who helps you make your existing career better. For example, let’s say you are a teacher, but you have a vocal injury. In that case, a career coach can help you find a way to become an administrator in a school rather than a classroom teacher. They can also offer encouragement and support on how to advocate for yourself during this time by offering ways to become more efficient and requesting the support you need at this time.
In contrast, a career strategist is an expert who shows you how to change or pivot your career. For instance, if you are a teacher, but you are not feeling the same vigor and excitement about being in the school environment, a career strategist can show…
