Why ‘Letting’ The Tail Wag The Dog Is An Example Of Privilege

I find it funny that there is a sentiment in the world but especially in corporate America that letting “the tail wag the dog” is an issue… I mean the dog wagging the tail doesn’t work anymore… it really never did because it’s not mutually beneficial. What does this really mean anyway?
I saw this quote as a part of a #LinkedIn discussion thread recently about remote working, working from home, flexible working arrangements, etc. The conversation quickly took a turn when people began to share stories about employers that were making it a requirement to return to the office with no room for flexibility or negotiation and as a result people quit. Some employers forget is that employees are sovereign just like they are and always have options too.
Prior to the pandemic, people exercised this right but probably didn’t risk talking about it as much.
NOT ANYMORE.
People of all types and groups are “singing like a bird” about poor treatment, toxic work environments and disregard for employees. I can think of so many issues where the dog wagging it’s tail is beyond anybody’s tolerance anymore.
